The Rotary meeting for Wednesday, February 13, 2019 was called to order by Pres. Jerry Weber.

Prayer was led by Pastor Laurie. Prayed for Dave I. knee surgery tomorrow, Erin Mock (son of cook, Margaret) in Kuwait hospital, bitter cold weather and protection for all, and called to serve and love others.

Welcomed guests: Incoming Rotary Dist. Gov. – Ina Winter; Jamie Tjeerdsma. There were 15 Rotarians present as well as our two guests.

There was no Membership moment.

Song request by our incoming Dist. Gov., Ina W. for “Ro-Ro-Rotary” to the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” was led by Rotarian, Laurie K.

Queen of hearts: Craig K. held drawn ticket #860, but he drew the four of clubs.

No complete Sect./Treas. Report was given since she was not present.

There was $19 collected for the Queen of Hearts.

Future program chairs: February 20 Kelsey D.; February 27 Bryan S.; March 6 Scott M.

Request was made for another trailer to store aluminum cans.

Program chair, Brenda J., introduced Jamie Tjeerdsma – Scout leader.

Scout membership has increased from 20 kids last year to 39 with 31 being active. Jamie is also the membership chair for the Lewis and Clark area. They will recruit in Mar./Apr. and then again in the fall.

Wagner Scouts received the 2018 Gold Journey to Excellence award. This is given when specific criteria is met to be a strong pak. They received this award out of 200 Scout paks in the Sioux Falls area.

They also received a Blue Ribbon summertime award for continuing the Scout program throughout the summer. This is their time for camping.

Community Service: continue packing bags once a month for the Helping Hands project. They clean the Community Church once a month – this is where they meet. They will serve the Fellowship Feast in December. They have cleaned Wagner Lake. Many Scouts have and will participate in Scout Sunday at their local churches. Wagner United Methodist Church held their service this last Sunday, including one Girl scout.

They finally raised enough money to purchase their 50’ Pinewood Derby track with 4 lanes and electric scoreboard. Rotarians were encouraged to purchase a kit for $5, build their car, then attend Sat., Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. race at Two Spurs.

The purchase of the track was made possible through the amazing popcorn sales the last two years!

They are hoping to purchase a Space Derby (rockets) for $1,000. They will need to do fundraising. Suggestions were made to possibly do a fundraising project with the Rotary Club.

The Wagner Scouts will be hosting the District Derby in Wagner April 13 at the Boys and Girls club. Everyone is invited to attend and/ or participate.

There is always a need for more Scout leaders!

Jamie was thanked for the program.

We closed in our usual fashion by standing and singing “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”

Meeting adjourned.
