CHARLES-MIX COUNTY 4-H HAS A NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The Charles-Mix County 4-H Department has a friendly new face in their office. Jo Cee Johnston joined the Charles-Mix County 4-H as an administrative assistant on January 16th. Jo Cee is originally from Royal, NE but has recently moved to Platte.

BHSA GIRLS EARN 7TH AT STATE RUEB, HELLMANN CHAMPIONS

With four medalists, the Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon girls scored 69 points for seventh place at the Girls State Wrestling Tournament on February 22-24 in Sioux Falls. Britney Rueb and Peyton Hellmann stood on the top step and Hadley Kracht and Ashley Tolsma both placed eighth. Pierre T.F.

HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR EVENTS

Autumn Schultz and the Avon High School Choir have been very busy the last few weeks. On February 7, 2024 the High School Choir attended the vocal solo/ ensemble contest at Vermillion High School.

World Day

World Day of Prayer is an international, inter- church organization led by women which enables us to hear the thoughts of those women from all parts of the world: their hopes, concerns and prayers.

WILLIAMS SEPTIC UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP

Williams Septic of Avon changed ownership on December 1st of 2023 from Jack Williams to his daughter, Shona and her husband, Travis. Travis and Shona Hill are the new co-owners and operators of Williams Septic.

ACT PREP COURSE TO BE OFFERED TO AREA JUNIORS

As area juniors focus upon their future and what they need to do to get ready for the next step in life after high school, they are also very aware that step might include taking an entrance exam, such as an ACT test.

AC/DC THUNDER ADVANCES TO THE SODAK16

AC/DC 12 30 42 54 Avon 9 16 28 39 Andes Central/Dakota Christian traveled to the Corn Palace in Mitchell Thursday, February 22nd where they defeated the Avon Pirates 54-39.

THE FREEDOM TO BE SECURE – AND HOW TO KEEP IT

In my State of the State Address, I talked about the Freedom to be secure. We are so fortunate to live in a nation where we have many Freedoms, including the Freedom to feel secure in our own communities. Unfortunately, that security is now being threatened.
