ACT PREP COURSE TO BE OFFERED TO AREA JUNIORS

By

As area juniors focus upon their future and what they need to do to get ready for the next step in life after high school, they are also very aware that step might include taking an entrance exam, such as an ACT test. This is a test that often concerns students as it sometimes determines what opportunities they may or may not get to consider after they leave high school. Some students may want or need a specific score to qualify for a scholarship or they may just want to just meet the requirements of entering a specific educational program or college of their choice.

While the ACT test is important, students should also understand that many institutions also take into account other factors as well for admission. For students who do not want to rely on having a good test day, some will purchase a study guide for the test or take an on line course to prepare for in their spare time. All area students also have the opportunity to take a “live and in person preparation course” known as the “ACT PREP COURSE”. This special course was created to help students overcome the concerns or fear that some students have about the test. This course provides a text book to use, in class instruction, classroom discussions, test strategy, several practice test opportunities with a focus on reading, English, math and science along with a full test simulation at the end of the course. The course meets evenings prior to the April test date.

Students taking this course often come from a wide variety of area high schools and many have the same goal in mine, to just be able to do their best and end any fear they may have about the exam. This course will be held for any students who want to enroll in the course and will be held at the Armour High School beginning in early March. The deadline to apply for the course is Monday, March 4 or when the limited available seating is filled! Students and parents with questions about this course and the cost involved should contact Dana Sanderson, creator of the course as soon as possible at: danasanderson51@gmail. com or telephone at 605-4910804.
