National Honor Society (NHS) has been in existence for over a century. The society encompasses five main pillars including scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

One of this week’s featured WCS seniors is Shona Kocer. Shona is the daughter of Fran and Karla Kocer. Shona’s nickname is Shon.

One of this week’s featured senior spotlight is Kennedy Kourt. Kennedy is the daughter of Trista and Dustin Kourt. Kennedy has several nicknames including Hollywood, Kenny, and KernDog.

One of this week’s featured WCS seniors is Macy Koupal. Macy is the daughter of Michael and Tera Koupal. Macy does go by the nickname Mace.

As a part of National Agriculture Week which is celebrated March 17th-24th 2024, it is important to celebrate both those currently employed in Ag related careers and those who will be joining the Ag community in years to come.

Hayden Darrol Talsma was born April 28, 2006 to Jerry and Tina Talsma. Hayden has one sibling, Hensley. Hayden’s favorite subject in school is anatomy because he loves learning how the body works. The most challenging task as a senior for Hayden is being a leader and having everyone look up to him.

Voni Hubbell has been teaching for seven years, but this is her first year teaching in Avon. She taught high school in Faulkton for one year, followed by teaching midde school for five years in Marion. She said it has been amazing being back at Avon, since she graduated from here in 2012. Mrs.

Noah Douglas Watchorn was born October 19, 2005. His parents are Jaime Watchorn, John Fathke and the late Douglas Watchorn. Noah has two older brothers, Trevor Watchorn and Eli Watchorn. Noah says his favorite subject in school is English because it is “easy and carefree.
