ANDES CENTRAL NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTION CEREMONY

By
Submitted By Nhs Advisor, Synnora Wilbur

National Honor Society (NHS) has been in existence for over a century. The society encompasses five main pillars including scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Andes Central is unique as opposed to other schools in the area in the aspect that they allow sophomores to become prospective members, allowing those students to be a part of the organization for longer than the usual two years as a junior and senior.

Students are invited to apply to Andes Central's chapter of National Honor Society if their GPA is above a certain threshold to exemplify the scholarship pillar that NHS is based on. If a student chooses to apply, they fill out the application and write a short essay outlining their qualifications to the other pillars: leadership, service, and character. The Faculty Council then votes on who to accept and who to deny.

Induction into NHS this year required the prospective members to show their dedication prior to becoming full members. All 8 who applied in the fall were inducted into NHS on March 12th this year. I'm excited to see what the future holds for our NHS chapter as the seniors move on. The students who were inducted are listed from left to right: Luke Dangel, Isaiah Milk, Katelyn Dvorak, Rory Kiyukan, Mackenzi Johanneson, Leah Brown, Cambria Ronfeldt, and Gracie Ronfeldt.

Congratulations 2024 National Honor Society Inductees!
