10 Years Ago – 2014

The Avera Foundation presented an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the Lake Andes Fire Department. Half of the AED was paid for by Avera Health and the other half by Avera St. Benedict.

The theme for homecoming was “Old Time Games.' Dress up days included Nerd Day, Twin Day, Sports Day, Holiday Day, and Black/ Gold Day.

Ray and Jane Kostel donated two geese lawn ornaments to the Wagner Good Samaritan Society.

The Andes Central Athletic Boosters conducted a “traveling toilet” fundraiser.

20 Years Ago – 2004

Harry Medicine Bear and Lesey Cavender were chosen to reign as the 20042005 Homecoming King and Queen at Andes Central High School.

Kieran James Harrell was born to Tony and Kendra Harrell.

Jayme Jo Soulek and Wayne L. Bergin Jr. were united in marriage.

40 Years Ago – 1984

Mark Payer is a member of the year’s University of South Dakota football team.

Senator Red Allen attended the dedication of the new irrigation system at Greenwood.

50 Years Ago – 1974

A 25th anniversary dance in honor of Leonard and LaValle Matuska was held with music by the Bures Bohemian Band.

Rita Solko and Doug Edwards reigned as King and Queen over the Andes Central High School homecoming festivities.

Francis Foreman retired from the U.S. Postal Service after more than 20 years of service at the Lake Andes Post Office.

60 Years Ago – 1964

The Mix Theater will open with a wonderful family movie, “The Incredible Mr. Limpet” starring Don Knotts.

80 Years Ago – 1944

The tentative line up for the Lake Andes football squad is: Bergin, center; Jones and Brooks, ends; Maruska, quarterback; Kniffen and Zachariasen, half backs. Substitutes will be made from the following: Alvin and John Archambeau, Wayne Brooks, Edwin Christiansen, Bryce Evans, Robert Exon, Eldon Isaacson, Marty Miley, Robert Nelson, Larry Rezek, Leo Soulek and Jerry Stone.
