The Sweet Clover 4-H club met on October 6, at 6 p.m. The Brandt family hosted. President Carmindy called the meeting to order. Flag Pledges were led by Lucy and Josie Schloss. Roll call topic was "What did you do today?" and 11 members were present. The secretary's report was given by Whitley Wolf.

10 Years Ago – 2014 The Avon area was seeing some of the best crops in years with bean and corn piles building up. The annual Williams Pheasant Hunt was a success bagging 30 pheasants opening weekend.

The Post Prom Committee and Avon/Dante Pink Ladies presented a check to Rick and Mary Hurd during Friday's football game from proceeds raised from pink shirt sales and the Avon/Dante Pink Ladies who made a matching donation to the cause.

Avery Schacht is a volunteer fire fighter for the Lake Andes Fire Department and has been since 2021. She joined the department as soon as she turned 18 years old.

Did you know that the library will be attending the Lake Andes Trunk or Treat on October 26th at the parking lot of Andes Central Schools. The library has many new books that will be part of the “treats,' and of course something sweet.

10 Years Ago – 2014 Several wind towers were beginning to fill the skyline of Charles Mix County. The Lake Andes and Ravinia Volunteer Fire Fighters were honored.

National Massage Therapy Awareness Week this year is being held October 20th through 26th. This is an annual week of promoting the health benefits of massage therapy and the massage therapy professionals of this industry.

The Wagner Community Foundation was able to fulfill three grants this year totaling $52,000. The three grant recipients were the Charles Mix County Historical Society Museum, the Boys & Girls Club of the Missouri River Area, and the Wagner Pool Fundraising Committee.

President Jordan Weber gave a welcome ring of the Rotary Bell on October 16th to all those present. Attendance is still a little low since there is a great deal of grain being harvested in the countryside.

Residents of Parkview Villa Apartments are inviting all area “Trick or Treaters” to stop by for some treats on Halloween night. Residents of the apartments are hoping area children can stop by the apartments and get some treats as they make their rounds during the evening.
