FIREFIGHTER SPOTLIGHT - GREGG VOIGT

This month’s featured volunteer firefighter is Gregg Voigt. Gregg has been a member of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department for the past 20 years and is one of the first members of his family that he knows of to serve as a firefighter. From a young age, Gregg knew that he wanted to be a firefighter.

AREA STUDENTS RECOGNIZED ON SOUTHEAST TECHNICAL COLLEGE PRESIDENT'S LIST

SIOUX FALLS, SD (01/08/2025)-- The following Southeast Technical College students were recognized on the President's List for academic achievement during the fall 2024 semester. To be named to the President's List, students must be seeking a degree and have a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Sweet Clover 4-H Club Meets

The Sweet Clover 4-H club met on January 8 at 5 p.m. The Wolf family hosted. P resident Ca r m i ndy called the meeting to order. Flag Pledges were led by Lucy and Josie Schloss. Roll call topic was "What is your birth month?" and ten members were present.

10 Years Ago A new building located at the corner of Highway 50 and Main Street was constructed in hope that Beethoven Wind, LLC would occupy the building. Avon attorney, Scott Swier, was featured on the cover of the January 2015 issue of BizNOW magazine.

10 Years Ago Ray Kostel celebrated his 80th birthday at the Good Samaritan Society surrounded by friends and family and sang Bohemian songs. The new South Dakota delegates were US Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds and Representative Kristi Noem.

Wednesday, January 15th was Steak Day at the Rotary Clubhouse in Wagner. Our Rotary year is divided into four quarters and attendance is important for members. At the end of each quarter the attendance team which has the least number of absences is declared the winner.

Greer Post #11 American Legion Minutes

American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on December 19 with 38 members in attendance. Commander Rados thanked the cooks for a delicious meal. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

CHARLES MIX COUNTY 4-H JUNIOR LEADER SPOTLIGHT

The Charles Mix County 4-H Club Junior Leaders Treasurer for the 2024-2025 season is Luke Dangel. Luke is the son of Mike and Tina Dangel and resides in Lake Andes. Luke has been a part of Charles Mix County 4-H for five years, beginning when he was eleven years old.
