Todd Breen is being honored as January's Lake Andes Veteran of the Month. Breen is a Veteran of Operation Desert Shield, first enlisting in October of 1981 with the United States Army at the age of 25.

Jamie Soukup has been a volunteer firefighter for the Wagner Fire Department for the past five years. Jamie joined the department as he enjoyed serving his hometown community and helping its residents.

GIRL SCOUTS EARN THEIR FIRST AID BADGE

On January 21, twenty Wagner Girl Scouts, as well as parents toured the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera. The girls toured different departments including Physical Therapy, Clinic, Laboratory, Radiology and the Emergency Room.

President Jordan Weber began the January 22 Wagner Rotary meeting with a prayer and then called on Song leader Gerrit Juffer to lead the members in singing. Juffer had chosen In the Good Ol’ Summertime and the participation was so dismal that he insisted we sing something we all knew well.

WAGNER AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY SEND CARE PACKAGES

At the January meeting of the Wagner American Legion Auxiliary, it was decided that the unit would assemble and mail out care packages to soldiers with local ties that were either deployed or who had recently enlisted and were still in their individual trainings.

MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AUXILLARY MEETING MINUTES

The Wagner Community Memorial Hospital – Avera Auxiliary held their meeting on January 22 with eight members present. President Pearl Weber called the meeting to order and members read the Auxiliary Prayer. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
