A new building located at the corner of Highway 50 and Main Street was constructed in hope that Beethoven Wind, LLC would occupy the building.

Boys’ basketball players of the week were Devin Tolsma and Logan Mudder. Girls’ basketball players of the week were Amanda Reiff, Cheylee Nagel, Hanna Powers, Heidi Cap and Kacie Mudder.
Avon had a new student, Alexandria Duncan, who was a 17-year-old senior.
Avon eighth graders attended a career fair at the Wagner Community School.

The 0-8 Pirates dropped two more games during the week.
Brad and Shelly Poppe have a new baby girl, Megan Jo, born on January 10th.
The Avon town basketball team won two more games. Grocery Bingo was played at the Manor on January 25th. In order to be eligible to play, a person had to be 60 plus years of age and eat lunch that day.
Bear’s Northvue Special was an all you can eat Saturday Mexican night for $3.99; Every Wednesday from 5-8 soup and sandwiches were $2.99.
60 girls aged preschool to grade six participated in a cheerleader clinic put on by the boys’ basketball cheerleaders. The young girls performed Tuesday night at the basketball game.

Funeral services were held for Carl Knoll in the First Presbyterian Church.
The Trinity Presbyterian Ladies met. May Oorlog had the devotional and Helen Fathke presided over the meeting.
F. Weldenbach Specials were a five-quart pail of ice cream for $1.79; one pound of butter for $0.79; quart of chocolate milk for 29 cents; quart of orange juice for 39 cents; minced ham was 59 cents per pound; and a 10-ounce jar of jelly was 25 cents.

The Bon Homme County Tourney was held at Avon on January 25th and 26th. Admission was 25 cents for adults and 15 cents for students.
The Nova Lite was printed weekly in the CLARION. Duane Reaney was the editor with Melba Jucht as Assistant.
Avon boys’ basketball won over Tabor. Bandpracticewasnotheldallweekduetoheatingproblems in the band room.
Robert Heib, who broke his leg in September, was taken to Sioux Falls by C. Crosby to consult a bone specialist.
Albert Haenfler and members of the Morningside Football team were honored at a dinner in Sioux City.
