At the January meeting of the Wagner American Legion Auxiliary, it was decided that the unit would assemble and mail out care packages to soldiers with local ties that were either deployed or who had recently enlisted and were still in their individual trainings. The unit wanted to let the soldiers know that their service was appreciated and that their hometown community was proud of them. The available ladies met on Saturday, January 18th at the American Legion Hall to gather all of the care package supplies and to assemble them. They assembled five packages in total filled to the brim with snacks and games for the soldiers. Two care packages were sent overseas and three were sent stateside. Auxiliary members donated the care package items and postage.
