WAGNER CANCER WALK HELD

Cancer survivors attending Wagner Cancer Walk. During the night, lanterns were released honoring the 18 that lost their battle with cancer. Survivors releasing their purple balloons as the song "We are the champions" was played.

WCS ACADEMIC LETTERS AWARDED

High School principal Neil Goter awarded academic letters to students during an assembly on Friday, August 16. Students who earned academic letters for the second semester of the 2018-2019 school year are students who maintained a grade point average of 3.

NON-SERVICE-CONNECTED PENSION

Veterans Pension is a ‘needs based’ benefit paid to wartime veterans who have limited or no income and net worth. Additionally, to qualify for pension, the veterans must be age 65 or older or, if under age 65, must be permanently and totally disabled.

CARLSON PARTICIPATES IN MARATHON

Stephanie Carlson took part in the 2019 San Francisco 26.2 mile Marathon. There were 5,190 entries and Stephanie placed 2,772. There were 1,600 women that competed and Stephanie placed 630th. The female age group of 30-34, Stephanie placed 125th out of the 296 runners. Her time in the 26.

Greer Post #11 American Legion

Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting on August 15, 2019 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

This Week in Rotary News The Wagner Rotary Club met for an early breakfast at the Wagner Community School on Monday, August 12th. The Club has been hosting the early morning breakfast for WCS employees for many years now.

In the U.S., there are almost five million people with mild to moderate dementia, and studies show that about 70 percent are at home, either alone or with a caregiver, often a spouse.

PURPLE HEART RECOGNITION DAY

PIERRE, S.D. – At the request of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, Gov. Kristi Noem has proclaimed Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, as “Purple Heart Recognition Day,” calling on all South Dakotans to honor those men and women who are recipients of the Purple Heart Medal.
