THE JOYS OF CATFISHING RENEWED

When I was a kid, my grandparents took me fishing at the Lake Norden spillway, a passage that allows water from Lake Norden to flow underneath Highway 28 and into lakes Mary, John, Albert and points beyond. I don’t recall being excited by the outing. Fishing had never appealed to me.

Pierre, S.D.– The Stephanie Miller-Davis Library Summer Reading Grant Program has continued its third year supporting summer reading programs in small rural communities in partnership with the South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) and the South Dakota State Library (SDSL).

1971 - 50 Years Ago The Outlaw No. 2 Admiral bowling team from Lake Andes took number one spot in the State Women's Bowling Tournament. The team rolled a 2998 to edge out Exon Land Title Company, also from Lake Andes, who held the position since the opening weekend four weeks ago, with 2979.

LMVC CONFERENCE PLAYERS ANNOUNCED

Wagner had two All Conference girls basketball players in the LMVC conference. 1st Team Macy Koupal and 2nd Team Shalayne Nagel. In the SESD Wagner had three All Conference players with Abby Brunsing and Macy Koupal on 2nd team and Shalayne Nagel third team.

A Look Back at Avon

1986 - 35 Years Ago Avon lost to Armour the second round of Distress Play in Overtime 41-43. Cliff and Phyllis Hubner and Lawrence and Myra Klock returned from a 2 week vacation to California. Flower Club met at the Northvue Café for supper.

1971 - 50 Years Ago The Andes Central Eagles rated fourth in the South Dakota State B basketball tournament held in Sioux Falls last week. Miss Sharon Merkwan, Lake Andes is named to the honor roll at Augustana College, Sioux Falls. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Merkwan.
