STUDENTS ENCOURAGED TO TREAT PEOPLE WITH RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

Nicole Phillips, breast cancer survivor, Hallmark Channel guest, and author, came to Avon High School on February 17 to present an assembly she calls Kindness is Contagious! She told her life story and how she overcame her battles using kindness in her daily life.

AHS DRAMA CAST PRESENTS THE PURRFECT CRIME

Avon students performed a two-act play called The Purrfect Crime on April 17. At 6:00 p.m. the Post Prom committee served supper in the Avon gym prior to the play. Supper consisted of a side salad, pork loin, baked potato, green beans, a bun and dessert...served during intermission.

AVON SCHOOL UPPING TECH GAME; SCHOOL APP AVAILABLE

Avon School is upping their tech game. Mr. Brad Poppe is pleased to announce that there is now an Avon Pirate School App available for those with iPhones and Androids. If interested, the app may be downloaded in the Apple Store for iPhone users and Google Play for Android users.

FIVE ATTEND STATE HOSA EVENT

April 8-9 was filled with many learning experiences for five high school girls. Early Thursday morning Cassie Stewart, Makayla Kopp, Madi Mudder, Kim Tolsma, and Gracie Small hopped on a bus headed to Sioux Falls for the state HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) event.

POPS CONCERT FEATURES EXCEPTIONAL MUSICAL TALENT

Monday, April 12 the high school choir (9th through 12th) and high school band (8th through 12th) performed the Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the main gym. Seniors Keely Bares, Kristen Namminga, Alexa Sees, Megan Soukup, and Cassie Stewart opened the concert with “If I Die Young,” by The Band Perry.

The development of partnerships for the 605 Unity JAM began a few weeks ago and is ready to wrap up this week. The purpose of the partnership process is to encourage local individuals, business, clubs and organizations to become financially supportive in the creation of this culture and music event.

ANDES CENTRAL ATTEND STATE FCCLA CONFERENCE

Andes Central students attended the State FCCLA Conference in Sioux Falls on April 18-20th. Students from across the state participated in workshops, STAR Events, Social Activities, and General Sessions. FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.
