AHS DRAMA CAST PRESENTS THE PURRFECT CRIME
Avon students performed a two-act play called The Purrfect Crime on April 17. At 6:00 p.m. the Post Prom committee served supper in the Avon gym prior to the play. Supper consisted of a side salad, pork loin, baked potato, green beans, a bun and dessert...served during intermission.
The play was about a cat named Wiggles that inherits 36 million dollars from the passing of Mama’s Husband, Big Bob. This news was delivered by Janice Farthsworth who is Big Bob’s attorney. Janice confirms that the butler, Digby, is going to be Wiggles’ trustee and will protect all of Wiggles’ money and to make sure it is spent for the good of Wiggles.
Mama has three children, Cecilia, Annie and Little Bob. Each of them feels he or she is the one that deserves the money the most. Throughout the play, they hire pet psychics, Madame Zamboni and Bubbles, to find out what the cat is thinking and who the cat wanted to leave the money to following her demise. In the end, Mama finds out that Digby is trying to take the money for himself and uses her karate moves to knock him out. They are able to get all the money back and the family decides to give the fortune to Mama since she saved both Wiggles and the money.
Drama director Loretta Knodel said, “I am very excited to get back on stage since we were not able to perform a twoact last year. I thought the kids pulled off a great show and I am pumped for next year because we are losing no seniors and everyone will be returning.”
Avon’s drama cast included Kley Heumiller (Wiggles), Rachael DeJong (Cecilia) Erica Cahoy (Annie), Noah Watchorn (Little Bob), Caleb Wallinga (Digby), Kiara Driesen (Janice Farnsworth), Tiffany Pelton (Mama), Haden Cahoy (Vince Varley), Haleigh Tjeerdsma (Madame Zamboni), and Haley Gillete (Bubbles). The stage crew consisted of Brielle Voigt and Airen Cline. An inside joke from practice, Mrs. Knodel said, “That’s a funny way to say Haleigh Tjeerdsma!”
Dinner Theatre tickets were $12, or attendees could pay $4 at the door prior to the 7:00 p.m. performance.
