COVID – 19 MASK CONTEST “DO IT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS”

The Native American Community Board held a student contest for a COVID-19 mask design. The contest was held during the month of March. The winner was a Wagner Middle School student, Cadee Nelsen of Lake Andes, congratulations. The theme of the contest was “Do It For Future Generations”.

STUDENT DESIGNS HELP CREATE POSITIVE OUTCOMES

Students from the Marty Indian School, Andes Central and Wagner Community School were given the opportunity to design a community art project for the “Imagine Design Contest” relating to the 605 Unity Jam that will be held in June.

LIFESERVE BLOOD DRIVE

LifeServe Blood Center, the sole supplier of blood and blood products to Avera - Wagner Community Memorial Hospital, is asking for donors to help with the community blood supply. It doesn’t take a tragedy for hospital patients in the area to need blood donations to survive.

ROTARY NEWS

Wednesday, May 5th Wagner Rotary members gathered at the Wagner Community School for their annual presentation of awards recognizing the top scholars in Grades 9 thru 12. Due to Covid restrictions the membership did not serve a meal but held the ceremony inside the school theatre.

REDLIGHTNING NAMED YOUTH OF THE YEAR

Jolene Redlightning was named South Dakota’s 2021 Youth of the Year, which is the highest honor presented by Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

FIRST COMMUNION CELEBRATED

1911 - 110 Years Ago A blizzard hit on April 30th. Thoe Giedd lost 22 cattle that were driven by the storm into the Chouteau Creek and drowned. The home team beat the Springfield Normal 23-3. Jake Heil fed a baseball to the fish out in the lake. Prof Wooley has organized an orchestra.
