1911 - 110 Years Ago

A blizzard hit on April 30th. Thoe Giedd lost 22 cattle that were driven by the storm into the Chouteau Creek and drowned.

The home team beat the Springfield Normal 23-3. Jake Heil fed a baseball to the fish out in the lake.

Prof Wooley has organized an orchestra. The Professor is a violinist of rare ability. They will play at the Commencement Exercises.

A new baby girl arrived at the Christ Sattler home.

Three Presbyterian ministers were here Wednesday to organize and fully launch a new church in Avon.

1935 - 86 Years Ago

Word was received of the birth of a baby girl to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sell of Lead.

Mr. and Mrs. William Nieuwenhuis and family moved to the Hauge home just north of the lumber yard.

Clarence Eckert broke his leg on Monday the 3rd time in a year. He was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital.

The 4, 6 and 6th grade Declam winners are: 1st - Duane Reaney, 2nd - Norma Kramer and 3rd - Bettie Thesenga. In the 1, 2 and 3rd grades: 1st - Beverly Berndt, 2nd - James Griffith and 3rd - Lorraine Seiling.

Louie Dykstra is the new Legion Commander.

The Annual 8th Grade Day and Track Meet was held on April 29th.

Diane Fees was elected FHA President for next year.

Sandra Pudwill is Vice President and June Schaefer is Secretary. The Monday Reading Club met at the home of Mrs. Ernest Nelson. Mrs. Milton Voigt has the lesson.

Denise Harmacek was honored on her 6th birthday. Sixteen friends helped her celebrate.

1986 - 35 Years Ago

The women's Bowling Champs in the Tyndall Twilight League was the Community Bank Team. Members of the team are Shirley Buchholz, Rosalee Sternhagen, Betty Lou Harmacek, Polly Sternhagen, Lee Lagendyk, Delores Knudson, and Delina Nagel.

Junior Schaefer celebrated his "29th" Birthday with a family dinner.
