Avon HOSA students attended State HOSA in Sioux Falls at the Sanford Pentagon. The event took place on March 31-April 1.

On the first day, the students competed in the medical skills of their choice. McKenna Kocmich and Courtney Sees placed top 10 in CPR and first aid. Caleb Wallinga placed top 10 in athletic training. Gracie Small placed top 10 in medical assisting. Senior Makayla Kopp said, “I would like to start by thanking Kim Velk for bringing HOSA to our school. HOSA has helped me to explore different medical careers and give me options for my future. Thanks to everyone in HOSA for making it a memorable two years.”

Both days consisted of attending breakout sessions and activities to learn about different healthcare careers.
