The Avon Community VBS was held July 31 through August 4th at the Avon City Park from 9 a.m. to noon. There were 47 students registered the first day with the theme being, “Keepers of the Kingdom.
Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, Aug. 25 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon.

Ravinia Fire Department received a $3,000 check from the Fire & Iron Station 49 out of Mitchell's 'Ride for Responders'. A percentage of the funds raised was available with local fire departments open to apply.
