ALL-STATE CHOIR

Last weekend, the AllState Choir quartet attended the South Dakota All-State Choir performance in Rapid City. The quartet consists of Grace Vanderlei- Soprano, Kinley Doom- Alto, Noah Watchorn- Tenor, and Landon Thury- Bass.

CLASSROOM OF THE WEEK: FIRST GRADE

A typical day for Mrs. Kuhlman starts off with her greeting her kids at the door and getting morning hugs. Calendar time is her favorite. Her kids love sharing about their feelings, which help to set the tone for our busy day.

Senior Spotlight

Madelynn Joy Huitema was born on September 27, 2005 to her mother Tena Weilenga and her father Tom Huitema. Madelynn says that her favorite subject in school is biology because, “it is a science that I really understand.

STATE CROSS COUNTRY

Tyler Tjeerdsma and John Fathke were two captains that attended State Cross Country. Tyler ran a 17:47 time and placed 22nd. John ran a 19:14 time and placed 63rd. Tyler has been running cross country for 6 years. He chose to go out for this sport because he enjoys running, and he is good at it.

80-YEAR-OLD TREE REMOVED

An 80-year-old tree was removed Thursday, November 2nd from Linda Krcil’s backyard in Avon. The tree was a silver maple that was beginning to decay and become a hazard to neighboring houses and property. Useable logs were taken from the tree to be milled for firewood.

LAKE ANDES VETERAN OF THE MONTH- HAROLD MILLER

The Lake Andes November Veteran of the Month is Harold Miller. Harold is a Veteran of the Korean War. Miller was drafted in 1952 and served until 1954. At the time that Harold was drafted, he was farming with his family outside of Canova.

LAKE ANDES COUNTRY QUILTERS

The first meeting of the Country Quilters was held May 19, 1999. Over 24 years later, the group is still meeting and quilting together though some of the members have changed over the years.

LIBRARY NEWS

The move is on the way! As of November 2nd all items that need to be moved from the library location at 500 Main has been completed. Library employees and volunteers from the Lake Andes area are busy putting our moved inventory into the new library at 17 Park Ave.
