The American Legion Auxiliary Greer Unit #11 is honoring Greg Mathis as this month’s Veteran of the Month.
Mathis is a Veteran of the Cold War. Greg started his service on April 9, 1975 with the Army. He joined the Army because he thought the military would be a good opportunity for him.
Each year the American Legion Auxiliary sponsors poem and essay contests for grades 3rd through 12th. This year’s Americanism essay contest title was “What does Freedom mean to me?” Students from Wagner Community School were asked to participate.
The SD National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) 2024 JAKES Hunt of a Lifetime Winner is 14 year old Jackie Lane of Avon. Jackie became a JAKES member through a youth turkey hunt sponsored in part by the Ft Randall Chapter of the NWTF.
Wagner Rotary Club gave a round of applause to President Brunsing who gave a good ring on the bell to bring members to order. Rotarian/Pastor Bill Heermann gave thanks for all our gifts and blessings, the nourishing meal and asked for protection for the members as they go about our Wagner Community.

Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, March 22 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon.

MADISON, S.D., March 1, 2024 – Dakota State University in Madison celebrated fall 2023 graduates. The 218 graduates earned a total of 257 degrees, 20 associate degrees, 129 baccalaureate degrees, 56 master’s degrees, and 12 earned doctoral degrees.
