The SD National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) 2024 JAKES Hunt of a Lifetime Winner is 14 year old Jackie Lane of Avon. Jackie became a JAKES member through a youth turkey hunt sponsored in part by the Ft Randall Chapter of the NWTF. The state hunt drawing allows each chapter to enter 1 JAKES member for every 25 JAKES members they sign up. JAKES stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship and is open to youth 17 and under.

Dr. Don Massa, SD NWTF President and the Hunt of a Lifetime guide, presented Jackie with a new shotgun at the Ft Randall NWTF banquet last Friday evening in Wagner. Jackie will receive a fully guided turkey hunt in the Black Hills for her and a parent or guardian. She will also receive a few other surprise gifts the weekend of the hunt.

'I believe this is the first time we have had a winner from the Ft. Randall Chapter.' said Don, who has been guiding the hunt for more than 10 years now. 'It is always a great time and we usually have a successful harvest.' The hunt will take place during the Black Hills Spring Turkey season that runs between April 27th and May 31st.

Jackie's parents are David and Jami Lane of Avon.
