Each year the American Legion Auxiliary sponsors poem and essay contests for grades 3rd through 12th. This year’s Americanism essay contest title was “What does Freedom mean to me?

Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, March 22 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon. PLEASE NOTE: Proxy pickup (picking up food for someone unable to attend) is allowed with a completed form.

The Andes Central After Prom committee hosted a Quarter Auction raffle Saturday night as a fundraiser for the after-prom party. Funds raised will help support breakfast, a hypnotist, inflatables and prizes for all prom attendees.

There are over 200 years of service including enlisted and non-enlisted service when it comes to the history of women in the United States military. During their time in the military, women have had to overcome decades of obstacles to get where they are today.

A binder containing all of the ordinances of the City of Lake Andes along with the most recent updates and resolutions. The binder is not for check out, library visitors are invited to read through the binder and copies can be made at the library to take home.

Mary Jo Parker was named the new Head Librarian for the Lake Andes Public Library. DiMera Dvorak was awarded the Presential Scholarship to Dakota Wesleyan University during its annual Presidential Scholarship Day in February. Senior Spotlights featured Christopher Dvorak and Jacie Braun.
