Wally Voigt is being honored as this month’s AvonVeteranoftheMonth.VoigtisaVeteranofthe Vietnam War and was drafted into the Army at the age of 19. At the time of his draft, he was working. He entered the service October 1st of 1969 and one year, 11 months, and 27 days later in September of 1971 his tour of duty ended.

This is the 81st year that the South Dakota American Legion has been hosting Boys State. This year the state-wide event is being held on the campus of Northern State University in Aberdeen from May 27th through May 31st. There are expected to be up to 350 soon to be seniors attending the event.

Braxton John Kreber, 14, of Dante, went to his heavenly home Monday, May 20, 2024 the result of an accident while working on the family farm. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25 at the Wagner National Guard Armory. Burial was in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order.
