WAGNER VOLLEYBALL FALL PREVIEW

The Lady Raider’s Volleyball team entered the 2023 season ranked #3 by the Midco Sports SD Class A Volleyball Media Poll. Last year the volleyball team ended the season playing in the State Tournament, bringing home 7th place and ending the season with a 32-5 record. The team won the Southeast South Dakota Conference (SESD) and the Little Missouri Valley Conference (LMVC) championships.

LADY RED RAIDER VARSITY AND JV TEAMS COMPETE IN PARKSTON TOURNAMENT

On Saturday, August 26th the Wagner JV and Varsity teams traveled to Parkston to compete in the first tournament of the year. The JV team finished the day 1-3. Losses came from Parkston (15-25, 23-25), McCook Central/Montrose (17-25, 25-22, 7-15), and Warner (25-20, 13-25, 9-15). Then ended the day with a win over Kimball/White Lake (25-18, 27-25). The Varsity team finished 3-1. They defeated Parkston (25-19, 26-24), McCook Central/Montrose (25-14, 25-13), and Kimbal/White Lake 25-18, 25-18). The only loss on the day was to a tough Warner program (8-25, 10-25).

HIGHWAY 18 BETWEEN LAKE ANDES AND PICKSTOWN IS OPEN

The detour restriction on U.S.Highway 18 has been lifted.Motorists can now access North Point State Recreation Area via U.S.Highway 18.Motorists should be aware that there is temporary surfacing on the new grade section of roadway and the speed limit is currently reduced to 55 mph in this area.Additional paving on this project is scheduled to take place after Labor Day.Photo by Barb Pechous.

LAKE ANDES FARMERS CO-OP LUMBER YARD CHANGES HANDS TO LAKE ANDES LUMBER COMPANY LLC.

On June 30th the Lake Andes Farmers Co-Op Lumber Yard closed its doors. On August 1st, it was purchased and became the Lake Andes Lumber Company LLC. There are over 29 investors in the Lake Andes Lumber Company. The investors are made up of mostly local people from Lake Andes and Wagner but even as far as Rapid City. The investors saw a need for a hardware and lumber supply store in Lake Andes and rallied together to purchase and reopen the store. They saw a need for their community and did not want to see another empty building on Main Street.
