CHEERLEADERS HOST LITTLE PIRATE CHEER CAMP

Every year the cheerleaders, under the guidance of Cheer Coach Becky Haenfler, prepare a Little Pirate Cheer Camp for elementary and junior high students to learn cheer skills and experience what it is like to be a cheerleader. This year, cheer camp was held on February 13, and the performance was on February 16 during the halftime of the boys basketball game against Gayville-Volin.

CHEERLEADERS SELLING CRUSH POPS

Every February the Avon Cheerleaders go around selling “Crush Pops” for a dollar as a fundraiser for Valentine’s Day. The cheerleaders hand out little sheets of paper with cute Valentine sayings on which students can write their name and to whom they would like to give a pop.

“Random Acts of Kindness” week was from February 14-20 and here in Avon there was a week full of fun. Everyday of the week there was a small act of kindness that was encouraged.

LYNETTE ASHES

Lynette died Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner, the result of an automobile accident. Wake services were held at 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday at the National Guard Armory in Wagner. Funeral services were 10 AM, Monday, February 22 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty. She will be cremated after her services and burial of her remains will be in the Choteau Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

PAULA SCHWEITZER

Paula Mae Schweitzer, 62, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on February 7, 2021 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes.
