BIEREMA EARNS 3RD PLACE AT STATE WRESTLING

South Dakota State Wrestling was held this past weekend in Rapid City. Among those participating was Brady Bierema of the Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon team. On Thursday Bierema started off the tourney on the mat facing off againstAndrew Even of Parkston where he tookthe win. He struggled Friday morning against Owen Hansen and suffered the loss. He then wrestled back hard to earn the his spot in the 3rd place wrestling match where he faced off against Porter Neugebaur of Parkston. STUDENTS EARN AWARDS AT ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR

On February 16, Avon freshmen, junior high, and sixth-graders participated in Science Fair in the auxiliary gym. The Science Fair was open to the public from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Awards were held at 8:00 p.m. Each individual or group used a trifold board or poster board to put their information on, and each individual or group presented their board to the judges.

SWEETHEART SERENADE RAISES MONEY FOR SENIOR TRIP

On Friday, February 12, the senior choir and band members (ALL GIRLS) went around to different towns to serenade someone’s special someone as a Sweetheart Serenade. For $10, Keely Bares, Megan Soukup, Cassie Stewart, Ali Sees, Kristen Namminga, and Natalie Zacharias would serenade your sweetheart to the tune of “The Way You Do the Things You Do.” They also performed “Amazing Grace” and “Jesus Loves Me” for nursing home residents in Lake Andes, Corsica, and Wagner.
