The VFW Sponsored Voice of Democracy audio/essay contest and Patriot’s Pen Essay contest provides students from 6th to 12th grade with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed essay. The 2025 - 2026 theme, which is chosen by the National Commander, is “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country” This year we had 160 sixth thru eighth grade students enter the Patriot’s Pen contest and 134 ninth thru twelfth grade students enter the Voice of Democracy audio/essay contest. The rules allow 1 student to advance to District competition for every 15 essays that are submitted.
Read moreArea veterans were recognized at a community Veterans Day program on Tuesday, November 11, in the Wagner School gym. Veterans in attendance introduced themselves and where and when they served. Music was provided by the All State quartets, 5th and 6th grade, 7th and 8th grade, and high school choruses. The event closed with the playing of Taps by Carlos Galindo and Connor Gabel.

Read moreThe annual VFW Post 7319 Veterans Day Banquet was held at the American Legion with a potluck supper at 7:00 p.m. on November 11, 2025. Toastmaster for the evening was Mark Roberts who welcomed everyone and then introduced officers of both the VFW and American Legion and their Auxiliaries as well as the Mayor of the city of Wagner. Post Chaplain, Don Hubbard, then gave the Invocation.
Read morePresident Jamie Soukup brought the meeting to order Wednesday, November 12th and proceeded to lead the members in saying the Rotary Grace. Rotarian Rachel Woods announced that our song for the day would be The Battle Hymn of the Republic. The day before our meeting was Veterans Day which made our song even more meaningful.
