BOYS AND GIRLS BASKETBALL

Basketball season is in full swing! The Lady Pirates opened their season with a game against the Gregory Gorillas on December 5, 2023. The girls won the game with the final score being 57-37. After playing against some very challenging opponents, the team has a record of 7-5.

LADY THUNDER DEFEATS COLOME

Andes Central/ Dakota Christian defeated Colome 64-11. Josie Brouwer led the team with 16 points, Mahpiya Irving had 14 and Halle Olson 10. Halle Olson, Mahpiya Irving and Claire Johnson each pulled down 4 rebounds.

LADY THUNDER FALLS TO RED RAIDERS

Andes Central/ Dakota Christian traveled to fell to the Wagner Red Raiders, 56-70 February 1st. Josie Brouwer was the leading scorer with 18 points, Mahpiya Irving scored 12 and Gabbie Olson 9. Halle Olson and Josie Brouwer both pulled down 9 rebounds.

LADY THUNDER FALLS TO BON HOME CAVALIERS

Andes Central/ Dakota Christian traveled to fell to the Bon Homme Cavaliers Tuesday, January 29th by 2 points with a final score of 43-45. Josie Brouwer was the leading scorer with 12 points, Mahpiya Irving scored 8 and Nadia VanZuidan 7.

THE COURNOYER BOYS – BASKETBALL TRIPLE TOWERS

It is not often that a family gets to watch three of their children play on the same sports team. Luckily for Joey and Antoinette Cournoyer that is their current reality when it comes to their sons’ Carter, Joey and Brady.

WAGNER WINS IN HANSON

The Raiders traveled to Hanson Tuesday night to take on Hanson. The boys were ranked just above the Beavers in the region standing prior to the game. The game was close the entire way, the score was 17-17 after the first period and Hanson led 28-27 at the half.

WAGNER WINS 5TH STRAIGHT

The Wagner varsity boys basketball team won their 5th consecutive game Thursday night against ACDC. The boys got out to a 13-8 lead after the first period and led 24-17 at the half. The boys could not pull away from the Thunder, the game was tied 36-36 with 6 minutes left.

WAGNER RECLAIMS LMVC TITLE

The Lady Raiders traveled to Lake Andes to take on the ACDC Thunder last Thursday night in girls basketball action. The game would start in a sea-saw battle with both teams taking lead changes in the early minutes.
