LISA M. DURHAM MEMORIAL TRAIL DEDICATION TO BE HELD

From that day forward the trail will be known as the Lisa M. Durham Memorial Trail, in honor of the late Lisa Durham and her contributions to the project, her love of outdoors, and her commitment to both her family and serving the community.

10 Years Ago – 2014 Wagon train celebrated 125 years with a 17-day trip through South Dakota. Daniel Van Gerpen and Layla Hanash were united in marriage. The Pirate’s football team had a rank of #4 in the 9B poll. The Lady Pirate volleyball team had a record of 2-2 for the start of their season.

'BACKPACKS AND BACK TO SCHOOL'

School is back in session so it is time for a little pop quiz. What is an item that almost every student carries? If you said backpack you are off to a great start. Do you know what it takes to be at the head of the class?

Jack Fathke is a sophomore and has been running cross country since the 7th grade. When we asked Jack what his meet-day routine was, he replied, “I make sure I eat a wellmaintained breakfast. At meets, Jack stretches to make sure he is prepared.

Easton Sees is the new quarterback for Avon. As a freshman, Easton feels pressured to do well, and believes he’s off to a good start. His game-day routine consists of a lot of sleep, a good breakfast in the morning, and making it on the bus on time.

Rilyn Thury is a sophomore at AHS and is on the Lady Pirate Volleyball Team. Rilyn is a team captain and plays outside hitter. Rilyn’s game day routine consists of getting a good night's sleep, eating a good breakfast, and listening to pump-up music on the bus rides.

Senior Spotlight

Maesa Leonne Kuhlman is the daughter of Dan and Teanna Kuhlman and the sister of Rance Kuhlman. She was born on September 5th, 2006.

AVON HOMECOMING THIS WEEK!!!

It is definitely an exciting week to be a Pirate! Homecoming is a tradition that is extra special in a small town. Our student athletes have a busy week with home volleyball games on Tuesday and Thursday and of course the football game on Friday.
