AARP Meeting

The Wagner SD AARP Chapter 962 meeting on November 20, 2018 was opened at 12:30 p.m., with Pres. Jane presiding and leading us all in saying the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag of the United States of America. Old Business: Last months business was read by Sec. Dona.

THANKFUL FOR OUR AMAZING COMMUNITY

Wagner HS student council, under the direction of Tera Koupal, had another successful fund-raiser and Turkey Trot. The student council, with the help of the students and staff at Wagner Community School, were able to raise $791.

Thelma Zachariasen

FREEMAN, S.D. - Thelma Zachariasen, 89, Freeman, formerly of Lake Andes, SD, died Saturday, December 1. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Freeman. Arrangements by Walter Funeral Home of Freeman.

2018 GUARD GALA QUEEN CANDIDATES

The annual Guard Gala will be held Saturday at the Wagner National Guard Armory. The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m., when the winner of the Military Queen Contest will be announced. There will be wine, beer and food tasting from 7 to 9 with a photo booth and boutiques available for shopping.

LIBRARY NEWS

Reminder that our Fine Forgiveness month runs through November 30th. All overdue books must be returned and fines paid before you are allowed computer privileges at the library. Continuing with new selections added to the library: “Crazy Rich Asians” by Kevin Kwan.

PICKSTOWN CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

The November 14, 2018 Regular Trustee Meeting was called to order by President Robert Altenburg at 7:00 PM in the Rainbow Room at Pickstown, SD. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Wagner Chamber of Commerce

The November Chamber Meeting was held at the Boys & Girls Club on November 19. Welcome Guests: Lynette and Ashley from CASA. LDC members. Shout Outs: Linda Soukup, the flower pot in front of Kelsey’s office. Laura and Lucy for filling in for Rachel while she was gone.

LOCAL SKY HIGH

MY HEART WAS IN my throat as pilot Dave Tunge’s tiny plane gently rumbled and glided down the runway of the Yankton airport. It was a beautiful August morning and the air was still and warm. I noticed yellow flowers growing wild along the concrete lanes. The sky was the blue we all love.
