PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Agricultural Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the organization’s annual Building Rural Communities (BRC) and Ag Innovators (AI) Youth Education grants. This year, the Foundation has awarded 14 grants totaling $28,770.

Natalie Joelle Zacharias, daughter of Kimberly and Charles Zacharias, was born on October 4, 2002. She has two sisters Bailey Schultz and KaCee Zacharias.

According to the American Legion Auxiliary, Girls State is an opportunity for girls across all fifty states to focus on citizenship, leadership, love for God and country. May 31- June 5 marks the 75th anniversary of Girls State.

Tuesday, January 26, Avon High School drama club went to Mitchell Area Community Theatre to participate in the regional One-Act Play competition. Avon drama club got second place in their district, advancing them to the state competition on February 6 in Brookings, South Dakota.

Tom and Jo Reiff of Parkston were visitors and dinner guests on Friday in the home of his mother, Ethel Reiff.

All Avon Chamber of Commerce members or anyone else interested in promoting the businesses in the Avon area are invited to attend the first meeting of 2021 on February 8, 2021 at 7 p.m., in the City Office. Any ideas for promoting the Chamber would be appreciated.
