BROOKINGS, S.D. - The following students have been named to the dean’s list for academic excellence after the fall 2020 semester at South Dakota State University.
MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan University recently announced January competitive scholarship winners for the incoming class of 2021.
Thirty-two high school seniors competed during DWU’s Scholarship Day on Jan. 15, 2021, for the university’s most prestigious scholarships.
Conrad and Erma Meyer and their daughter and granddaughter, Karen and Haley Gearhart of Ramona were guests on Saturday in the home of Marlo Anderson of Hartford.
The Regional Wrestling Tournament was held Saturday in Wagner. Two members of the Bon Homme/ Scotland/Avon wrestling team participated representing Avon, including Tyler Tjeerdsma in the 113 pound class and Brady Bierema in the 126 pound class.
Tyler Tjeerdsma (18-9) scored 3.0 team points.

During this time of year we find many students thinking seriously about what their future may hold and what will be needed to help them make their dream career a reality.
Greer unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary met on Feb. 18 at the post home, with eight members present. The meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplain Margie Stone opened with prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting on February 18, 2021 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The senior girls from the Avon HS choir surprised Julie Powers with a performance Friday morning, and she reported they did a great job. As a fundraiser for the Senior Music Trip, students performed a Sweetheart Serenade for those looking for a unique gift for Valentine's Day.
