The Lake Andes Public Library has been gifted a Human Genetics Film Kit from the U.S. National Library of Medicine. These DVDS available for check out from the library. I will review two of the DVDs this week and the remaining two next week.

Jackie Bird visited Andes Central School Wednesday, March 10, to perform for students. Her performance included hoop dancing, singing songs, and played her guitar. She explained the significance and meanings of the four directions, the hawk, and the eagle.

Rumors have been around for quite some time in the Wagner area about some special event, but the rumors are no longer needed as we now know that the 605 Unity J.A.M. is ready to be announced to the public. You may wonder, what “605 Unity J.A.M.” is.

The Bon Homme Community Choir is making final preparations for the 2021 Easter Cantata Performances. This year’s cantata is comprised of songs from past cantatas and new contemporary music. Our message is that of “Hope”. In the midst of our struggles and the storms of life, we will overcome.

The Wagner Red Raiders traveled to Salem on Tuesday to take on Sioux Valley in the SoDak 16. The Red Raiders came out hot shooting the ball well from 3 and taking an early lead. The Cossacks fought back and took an 18-14 lead into the second period.

Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, Mar. 26 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon. PLEASE NOTE: Due to a change in regulations, you must be present to pick up your boxes.

We are saddened to notify you all that we are postponing the Avon High School All School Reunion until a later date. We have heard from too many alumni that would be unable to attend due to travel restrictions in their current state/location, COVID vaccines haven’t reached every age group yet, etc.

In February the Bargain Shoppe gave $500 to the Bon Homme High School After Prom Organization and $200 each to the Avon and Scotland After Prom Organizations. In March the Tyndall Fire Department was given $3,000 and Avon, Springfield, Scotland and Tabor Fire Departments received $2,000 each.
