Curtis and Bette Koehn attended the wedding of their grandson, George Wiechmann and Morgon Smith on July 31 at the Chapel on the Hill near Rapid City, followed by a reception and dance at the Holiday Inn.

LOCALS JOIN HABITAT BUILD

Betty Marshall of Parkston and Rev. Dan Brandt did a week-long Habitat Build in Appleton, WI. This was a hybrid build due to Covid knocking out international and local builds the last two years.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL HELD AT CITY PARK

"Operation Dig" Vacation Bible School was held August 2nd through 5th at the Avon City Park. Four churches combined to put on this Community Bible School. They included Friedensberg Bible Church, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Danzig Baptist Church.

BACK TO SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE AND ORIENTATION MEETINGS AT AVON SCHOOL

The Avon School Open House is scheduled August 17, 2021, for preschool through 5th grade students. To allow teachers an opportunity to interact with families and students on a more personal level during the open house, we are scheduling families into the building by last name.

CHARLES MIX COUNTY Achievement Days

Charles Mix County 4H Achievement days were held August 3rd and 6th-7th. Congratulations and a job well done to all 4-H’ers and their projects. Each exhibitor may show a limit of 10 static exhibits and 10 livestock exhibits at the state fair.

STATE CHAMPIONS - TABOR LEGION POST 183

Tabor Legion Post 183 traveled to Groton July 30 – August 3 to compete in the 2021 State B American Legion Baseball Tournament. Tabor was the Region 4B champion and in opening round action squared off against Big Stone City and pounded out 14 hits and rolled to a 12-0 victory.

The 2021 Labor Day Committee is happy to announce that Labor Day is back to normal. We have a fun weekend planned with a lot of everyone's favorites along with some new and exciting events. We can't wait to see everyone there. Keep an eye out for event posters coming out soon.
