Dave, Jennifer and Bodhi Blais of Fargo, North Dakota were visitors last Thursday in the home of their grandparents and great-grandparents, Jim and Shirley Yonkers.

The Avon Pirates started off the football season Friday, August 20th with a 56-20 win over Corsica-Stickney. Way to go Pirates!

Thank you to everyone who supported our book sale on Friday and Saturday. If you could not make it those two days and don’t mind digging through boxes the books will still be there for sale. Parents and educators we do have some nice hardcover books for children available.

Wagner Raiders football team traveled to play Lakota Tech this past Saturday. Wagner outscored Lakota Tech 50-0 for the win.

Avon residents and Main Street businesses were happy to see the cement trucks arriving Thursday morning. Workers wasted no time in getting busy with forming and pouring concrete. Main Street is beginning to take shape.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – One of the most decorated student-athletes in school history, JJ Cooney of the University of Sioux Falls Men's Golf Team has been selected to the first team NCAA DII CoSIDA Men's Academic All-American At-Large Team, according to an announcement today by CoSIDA.

Wagner Swimming Pool Committee hosted an end-of-summer swimming pool party August 11. The purpose of the party was to increase awareness of the fundraising efforts to build a new pool in the community and to promote health, fun, and excitement for all of those in attendance.

This past Friday night was a special night in the history of Wagner Speedway, honoring the memory of a former racer, long-time race official and flagman at the track, Randy Meiers.

Friedensberg Bible Church south of Avon will have their annual river service at Walter's Landing on the Missouri River on Sunday, August 15th at 10:30 a.m., with Harry and Linda Walter's hosting. The worship service will be followed by a baptism, with a potluck meal to follow. All are welcome.
