The first library board meeting for 2026 was held on March 10th at the library. Dawn Kitchenmaster’s term as a board member ended with the December meeting. I would like to thank Dawn for her 15 plus years of service to the library.

With the completion of Week Eight, only one is week left in the 2026 legislative session. Property taxes are still being discussed at length. The major property tax bill that has passed so far is the Governor’ s Bill, SB 96.
It’s hard to believe we are approaching the finish line. The second to last week of session brought many appropriations bills to the floor. Among the more exciting topics this week was SB 240 an act to make an appropriation for county rural access infrastructure and to declare an emergency.

Voni Hubbell (Finck), graduate of AHS class of 2012, has built a life that reflects growth, faith, and dedication to both her career and her family. During her high school years, she was actively involved in volleyball, basketball, choir, and band.
The Avon High School Choir went to Vermillion on February 11th. The choir was very successful, winning a total of twelve “1” ratings and five “2” ratings. Mrs. Schultz commented, “I am proud that we had twenty entries, coming from a small school, while other schools bring way fewer numbers.
Alexis Vanderlei was born on May 23, 2008. Alexis’s parents are Amy and Craig Vanderlei and her siblings are Grace, Lila, Bree, and Jon. Alexis’s favorite subject is History because she likes to learn about our past so we don't repeat it.
