January is National Blood Donor Month, and Avon community members are starting the new year by showing incredible generosity and heart. At the most recent Avon Community Blood Drive, 17 units of blood were collected from 15 donors - enough to help up to 51 patients in local hospitals.

155th Engineering Co. Wagner hosted their 155th Guard Gala Mrs. Kuhlman's first grade class dressed as they were 100 years old for their 100th day of school. Senior Spotlights were Brianna Voigt and Johnathon Kopp.
City library news. 2-4-26 “Winter Reading Blast” began on Monday, February 2nd at the Lake Andes Public Library. Children’s Book Award nominees for grades K-5 will be available for children to read at the library or have them read to them by library aides.
South Dakota High School Wrestling Coaches Association recognizes Kevin Vellek for a much-appreciated lifetime of achievements in the sport of wrestling. Since 1999, Kevin has been instrumental in rating and record keeping of both classes of high school wrestling in the state.
