The Wagner Rotary Club began their April 17th meeting with President Jerry Weber issuing a sincere thank you to the Kathe and Jerry Henke Team for buying the steaks for our quarterly steak meeting. The Henke Team lost for the first time in recent history.

HEARING AIDS AND EYE CARE FOR VETERANS

Under the VA’s preventative care package, all veterans who are enrolled in the VA health care system may receive glasses and hearing aids. Those veterans in Priority Groups 6-8 may be required to make a copayment.

EDGAR J.R. GERKEN

Edgar John Rudy Gerken, 88, of Cole Camp, MO, died Monday, April 8, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Care Center, Cole Camp. He was born on September 26, 1930, on the family farm near Mora, Missouri, to Lewis Edwin and Maggie (Miesner) Gerken.

SLABA NAMED TO 60 CEOS TO KNOW LIST

Bryan Slaba, CEO of Wagner Community Memorial Hospital - Avera has been named one of 60 rural hospital CEOs to know in 2019 by Becker's Healthcare. Recipients of the honor were chosen from nominations submitted to Becker's Healthcare.

BROWN RECOGNIZED FOR 50 YEARS OF MEMBERSHIP

Karen Brown was recognized for her 50 years of membership in the Order of the Eastern Star by Worthy Matron Wanda Dally at Armour Star on April 6. Karen was initiated into Charity Chapter #91 in Wagner on June 4, 1968.

The Wagner Rotary Club was brought to order by an enthusiastic ring of the bell from President Jerry Weber on April 10th. Rotarian Laurie Kidd offered up a blessing for the meal and protection from the coming winter storm for all individuals and livestock.
