BLOOD DRIVE TO BE HELD

LifeServe Blood Center, the SOLE supplier of blood to Avera – Wagner Community Memorial Hospital, is asking community members to give blood to help patients this summer. Travel, outdoor fun, boating, and fireworks can all lead to an increase in traumas in local emergency rooms.

ANNUAL UECKER PICNIC HELD

The annual Uecker picnic was held on June 27 at the Wagner City Park. With this being the 100th Anniversary of the event, there was a nice crowd of descendents of Charles and Louise Uecker. They had seven children: William, Mabel Thaler, Pearl Jerke, Lonnie, Harry, Melvin and LaVerne.

CLASS REUNION OF 1946

The remaining members of the class of 22 members were together for their 75th anniversary graduation from WHS on June 25. As far as we know, we are the only three left and try to get together when we can.

FIRST ANNUAL DANTE AREA BBQ HELD

Dante held their first annual Dante area BBQ this past Sunday, July 18. It was a great turnout that brought lots of people young and old, new residents and long-time residents to come together and have a great time. We enjoyed lots of stories, laughter, games, and of course a ton of food and drinks.

ROTARY NEWS

President Bryan Slaba convened the Rotary Club last Wednesday, July 14th with three Rotarians absent. There were no guests, so Pastor Laurie offered up thanksgiving for the rain, the fellowship, and asked for guidance for all members as we go about serving our Wagner Community.

THE TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER REPLICA

To honor the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, (1921-2021), there will be a two-day commemorative event at The Alliance in Sioux Falls which will feature the travelling exhibit "A Call to Honor: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Replica.

Greer Post #11 American Legion

American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on July 15 at the Post Home. Commander Clayton Rados called the members to attention at 8:00 p.m. There were 26 members present with one new member, Dan Rezac.

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

My daughter recently brought home a monarch caterpillar. We cared for it in a container making sure it had a supply of fresh milkweed leaves and kept its cage clean. It seemed perfectly content to munch on leaves all day.
