Wednesday, July 5th was the beginning of Wagner Rotary Club’s 2023-24 year. The new President Becky Brunsing brought the club members to order. Rotarian Craig Krsnak once again filled the Secretary- Treasurer position.

CHARLES MIX JR. LEADERS FARM SAFETY DAY

June 29th Charles Mix Jr Leaders held a Farm Safety Day. This event was a collaboration with Progressive Agriculture. There were 29 participants and 14 volunteers, the youth were educated on; electrical safety, baler safety, made first aid kits, water safety, ATV safety, fire safety, and first aid.

AVON LIBRARY SUMMER READING PROGRAM KICKS OFF

The Avon Public Library kicked off their Summer Reading Program entitled, “Are You a Farm Safety Hero?” There were 41 Preschool through 6th grade children in attendance and about 30 parents, infants, caregivers, and volunteers. Our tiny library was packed and bustling with learning.

DESCENDANTS OF TOM AND LENA PIER GATHER

Eighty-seven descendants of Tom and Lena Pier (Kingsburg residents 1914-1933, Avon residents 1933-1968) gathered in Avon for a reunion of their extended families. The weekend began with a dinner held at Pour Corner, hosted by the Community Bank.

BERNDT FAMILY REUNION

The Berndt Family Reunion will be held Sunday, July 9 at the Danzig Baptist Church at 41018 299th St., Avon SD beginning at 12:30 p.m. Call Randy with any questions at (605) 464-4759.

POWERS NAMED TO MITCHELL TECH PRESIDENT'S LIST

MITCHELL, June 21, 2023—A total of 324 Mitchell Technical College students earned recognition on the Spring 2023 President’s List, according to MTC President Mark Wilson. To be named to the list, students must earn a term Grade Point Average of at least 3.5 on a 4.

BH COUNTY HORSE SHOW JUNE 28TH

Bon Homme County 4-H horse members will be participating in the 2023 Bon Homme & Charles Mix County Horse Show at the 7-N Horse Arena in Springfield June 28th. This is a combined county show. Registration will start at 9 a.m. with the show to start at 9:30 a.m.

LIBRARY NEWS

Wednesday June 28th at 10:30 am, Jeff Quinn, Magician will be performing at the library located at 17 Park Ave., across the street from the Elementary school. Mr. Quinn has performed for major corporations such as McDonalds, Union Pacific, and Kellogs to name a few.
