In fact, she first discovered her passion for Oral Interp as a high school student. “I participated in Oral Interp in high school, loved it, and made memories,” she said. Those experiences stuck with her, inspiring her to take on the opportunity to guide students in the same activity. Coaching Oral Interp atAvonwasanatural fit for Mrs. Irwin because she already teaches in the school. She also had a strong influence from her English teacher, Mrs. Hento, to do Oral Interp. While the performance aspect is a big part of Oral Interp, Mrs. Irwin hopes her students walk away with more than just polished pieces.“Confidence while speaking” is one of the main skills she wants her team to gain.

The Avon varsity volleyball team hosted Irene/Wakonda last Tuesday evening and secured a dominant 3-0 victory, improving their season record to 8-5. Voigt also paced the offense with 25 set assists on the night.
