While there are proven surgical options to help our patients where indicated, in many cases, patients are able to achieve pain relief and improved function with nonsurgical treatment options. Much of orthopedic surgical training is appropriately dedicated to the planning and execution of surgery, but it is also important to understand and recognize patients who present with conditions readily addressed without surgery and the accompanying risks of invasive procedures. It is also important to advocate the idea of prevention.

Muddy Creek has been our contractor of choice for many of the 35 years of rodeo in Burke. Chancy recognized that the Stampede had been doing everything professionally except inviting the cowboys and cowgirls of the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) and WPRA (Women’s Professional Rodeo Association) to compete on our arena floor. The Burke Stampede took Chancy’s encouragement and advice to heart and hit the dirt running being sanctioned by the PRCA for the first time ever in 2021. It was all we had hoped for and dreamed of and more, now five years later, we are not looking back! Once again, welcome home Chancy Wilson and Muddy Creek ProRodeo to the Legend that is THE BURKE STAMPEDE RODEO!

Read moreSpecial congratulations to Charles Mix County 4-Her, Luke Dangel, as he competed in the National Shooting Sports Championships last week. Luke earned his way to Nationals in .22 rifle. Luke placed 13th overall, 10th in silhouettes, and 2nd as a team. This is quite the achievement, considering 740 individuals were competing from 40 states! Congratulations, Luke, as you continue to make Charles Mix 4-H proud!
