Read moreThe Wagner Boys Basketball Team took on Ethan on Thursday night at Wagner. The boys started off string leading 14-9 after the first period and 32-22 at the half. Ethan opened up the second half on a 5-0 run and eventually took a 41-36 lead into the fourth quarter. Wagner battled back and cut the lead to 2 points with 1.2 second left. The boys could not tie the game and lost by a final score of 48-45. Joey Cournoyer Jr. had a double double, he scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Parker Petry added 10 points, Preston McFayden and Carter Cournoyer each scored 8, Carlos Galindo added 5 and Jesse Zephier scored 2. The Raiders outrebounded Ethan 32-27 and shot 41% from the field compared to Ethans 38%. Wagner falls to 2-2 on the season, Ethan remains a perfect 5-0. Wagner will be back in action December 29 against Avon at home.

Wagner was consistent in the first half, putting up 18 in the second quarter also and led 36-13 at the half. The boys defense remained strong holding Menno to 6 points in the third period and 9 points in the fourth winning the game by a final score of 60-28. Preston McFayden led the scoring with 18 points, Parker Petry and Carter Cournoyer dominated the paint, each of them had 12 points, Carter grabbed 9 rebound and blocked 4 shots. Joey Cournoyer Jr. scored 9 points and had 4 steals. Javian Pesicka scored 5 points, Brady Cournoyer had 3 points, and Carlos Galindo scored 1. Wagner outrebounded Menno 40-28. The boys record stands at 2-1.

Read moreThis week’s featured Andes Central Senior is Abigail Svatos. Abigail is the daughter of Ryan and Erica Svatos. She also has two sisters, Mikayla and Kourtney. During her high school years, Abigail has been involved in volleyball; basketball; wrestling; golf; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA); FFA and National Honor Society. Walking tacos is Abigail’s favorite school lunch and her favorite teacher is Mr. DeNeui. Mr. DeNeui is her favorite teacher because he always puts a smile on his student’s faces and he is the kind of teacher that will do anything he can to help his students succeed. The advice that Abigail has for Andes Central underclassmen would be that it will get better. Abigail’s favorite memories are any activities or events that were with Mr. DeNeui. When her time at Andes Central comes to an end, Abigail will most miss the relationships that she has built throughout high school with the teachers and her fellow students. Abigail’s enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and working during her free time.
