KAREN KUHLMAN - 40 YEARS OF SERVICE AT COMMERCIAL STATE BANK

A very familiar face will soon be retiring from Commercial State Bank. Karen Kuhlman is set to retire Friday, December, 29th. After 40 years of service to Wagner and the surrounding communities, Karen will clock out for the final time. She has enjoyed working at the bank, interacting with the customers and being able to support her family.

SANTA AND HIS REINDEER MAKE STOP IN WAGNER

Wagner had four furry visitors in its community on Tuesday, December 19th. Four beautiful reindeer were available for pictures and viewing at Wagner’s First Dakota National Bank. First Dakota sponsored the community event from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the bank parking lot. Along with the reindeer, Santa, his sleigh and Buddy the elf were available for pictures. This has become an annual event with the exception of last year’s event being cancelled due to the weather and conditions not being safe for travel. 400 kids came to visit Santa and the reindeer. Wagner Community School brought their pre-kindergarten through fourth graders to visit and take pictures with Santa.

Greer Post #11 American Legion

American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on December 21, 2023 with 37 members in attendance. Commander Clayton Rados thanked the cooks for the delicious prime rib meal. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order Minutes – Adjutant Dave Isebrands read the minutes of our last meeting. Minutes were approved as read.

Wednesday, December 20th was another beautiful December day. Something South Dakotans don’t always get to experience in our land of “infinite variety.” President Becky Brunsing welcomed all members to the meeting and Rotarian/ Pastor Bill Herrmann gave a prayer of gratitude for the weather and the preparations being made to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

MACY KOUPAL - AN END TO AN OUTSTANDING HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL CAREER

The volleyball season ended for the Wagner Red Raiders the 18th of November, but for senior, Macy Koupal, there was a bit more to be added to her season. Macy was one of three of the Lady Raiders to play in the South Dakota All-Star Volleyball Match which included other seniors from all across the eastern part of South Dakota. Macy was also in the running for the 2023 SD Miss Volleyball Class A title and was named honorable mention as a candidate for the 2023 Midco Sports South Dakota High School Class A Volleyball Player of the Year.
