STORY & CRAFT TIME AT LIBRARY

The Avon Public Library hosted a Story Time with a craft on Saturday, November 26th as part of the Chamber of Commerce Kick Off to Christmas. Guests listened to a read aloudof “Mooseltoe” writtenby MargiePalatiniandlistenedto a video of “The Littlest Christmas Tree” by Jani Jasin. Next, the children were able to make Christmas tree crafts.

ALL-STATE QUARTET

All-State has been a tradition since Mrs. Schultz started teaching here in Avon. All-State is a state-wide event where students from all over the state come together to sing inalargegroupconcert.Avon’s mainquartetthisyearincludes Sarah Swier, Kimberly Tolsma, Noah Watchorn, and Kley Heumiller. The alternates this year include Hailey Gillette, Erica Cahoy, Caleb Wallinga, and Landon Thury. There are a lot of small towns that have decided to give up All-State, so Mrs. Shultz is so glad that we have stuck with it for so long. When asking Noah Watchorn about his experience with All-State this is what he had to say, “I had a wonderful experience at All-State choir. I got to experience being among the best high school choirs in South Dakota, directed by an amazing and eye-opening director. As well as, seeing how music can bring all types of students from across South Dakota to perform beautiful pieces of music in great ways.”

Senior Spotlight

Marshall Cade Faulkner was born on October 27, 2003 to Marshall and Misty Falkner. Cade has two siblings, Jace and Maelie. His favorite subject is P.E because he gets to lift and play games. There are many challenging parts of being a senior, but for Cade the hardest part is leaving all the underclassmen behind. In Cade’s spare time he enjoys hunting hogs, coyotes, and deer. His favorite inspirational quote is “When you have a dream,you’vegottograbitand never let it go”-Carol Burnett. Cade’sschoolactivitieshaveincluded football and track. One of Cade’s favorite high school memories is how welcoming all the teachers and kids were on his first day at Avon School.

Gracie Small was born on December 1, 2004 to Mark and Mandy Small. Gracie has three sisters, Ella, Irelynn, and Anna. Her favorite subject is Anatomy because it's fun and she loves that she is always learning new things. In Gracie’s spare time, she likes to hang out with friends and family, and also enjoys working at the nursing home. Her inspirational quote is “To me, fearless is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me fearless is having fears and doubts; lots of them.
