Avon’s 18U softball team kicked off its season hosting Tyndall on Wednesday, June 1. In game 1 Tyndall jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Avon was able to tie the game in the bottom of the 5th but Tyndall sealed it with runs in the 6th. For Avon, Lydia Yost and Macy Voigt led the way with 2 hits apiece. Reece Loewe had a hit, a walk, and scored a run. Sam Brodeen added a RBI. On the mound Yost threw a complete game, giving up 4 hits, 2 earned runs, striking out 9 and walking 3.

The fact that the Unity JAM is even taking place is important to note. Some people clearly understand the bigger picture of what this event is about and what can be the eventual outcome for our community as a whole. The Unity Team understands that times are changing, like it or not, and we need to be working together to help make our community better for everyone.

Funeral Mass for Paul Soukup, 61, of Polson, MT was Saturday, May 28 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial was at St John’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
