2023 ARC/PLC SIGNUP DEADLINE IS APPROACHING

Agricultural producers can now change election and enroll in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage programs for the 2023 crop year, two key safety net programs offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Producers have until March 15, 2023, to enroll in these two programs. ARC provides income support payments on historical base acres when actual crop revenue declines below a specified guaranteed level. PLC provides income support payments on historical base acres when the effective price for a covered commodity falls below its reference price. Farm owners cannot enroll in either program unless they have a share interest in the farm.

S 701 is a Senate Resolution in Support of Rebuilding the Wagner SD Hwy 46 with four lanes. Those who are able are encouraged to come to Pierre and testify before the committee.

WAGNER CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON ON THE ROAD IN PLATTE

The Lady Raiders traveled to Platte to take on the Platte-Geddes Black Panther last Friday night in girls basketball action. Wagner would storm out of the gate to take a commanding 25-5 lead after the first and then 47-9 lead into half. Wagner would win the game and also claim the SESD title with a 81-13 victory. Shalayne Nagel would lead all scorers with 21 points, 6 boards, 6 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Ashlyn Koupal would net 19 points, 5 boards, 2 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. Emma Yost would record another double-double with 14 points, 12 boards, 3 steals, and 3 assists. Lydia Yost would be the 4th Raider in double-figures with 12 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Eve Zephier would finish with 6 points, a team high 8 assists, 5 steals, and 2 boards. Macy Koupal would also finish with 6 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Braxton Nedved would round out the scoring with 3 points. Wagner would shoot 3255 from the field for 55% while the Panthers would go 5-33 for 15%. Wagner would control the glass with a 33-14 advantage. Wagner would commit 8 turnovers compared to 29 from Platte-Geddes. “Offensively we really got things clicking and executed in the half court. Defensively we did a great job of taking away their tendencies and forcing them into uncomfortable situations. Congratulations to the girls for being SESD Champions! Now onto Region play where we have the opportunity to host 2 more home games.”

Greer Post #11 American Legion

American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on February 16th, 2023 with 31 members in attendance. Commander Clayton Rados thanked the cooks for the delicious meal. Special guest, Connie Kaufman, gave a special talk on a new program called Wagner’s Communities that Care Coalition. It is in its infancy but she is welcoming all community members who wish to be a part of it to call Connie in care of the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital. Commander Rados then called the members to attention. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order.
