Two VIPs (Very Important Pigs) visited Avon Public Library’s final Summer Reading Program(SRP)sessiononJuly 24th, much to the delight of the 44 children who attended. The Yorkshire barrow named Oscar and cross bred gilt named Bo Peep were brought to Avon by Landon and Rilyn Thury, who let the youngsters not just pet the pigs, but also try their hand at showing pigs.

The B-Y Electric Operation Round-Up Fund Committee awards the first grant recipient to Yankton Food For Thought. This is a non-profit organization that serves Yankton School District children and families who are food insecure. They requested a three-month supply of produce for their School Food Panty which currentlyserves178families which equals around 700 people. James (Jim) Henry Weber was born in Wagner, South Dakota on September 3, 1938 to Henry and Rose Weber and passed away peacefully, at home in Lake Forest, CA, Sunday night January 1, 2023 of a cardiac arrest and lung problems. He was on oxygen the last year of his life.
