RICHARD SADLER

Richard Sadler, 83, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 18 in San Marcos, Texas. He was born to Dr. Kenneth E. Sadler and Rosemary (Chamberlain) Sadler in Fort Robinson, Nebraska on May 7, 1942. Richard and his three siblings were raised in Wagner. He spent three years in the United States Navy on the aircraft carriers USS Pine Island and Lexington in the Pacific Ocean. After his time in the Navy, Richard returned home and married his high school sweetheart JoAnn Koupal on April 20, 1964.

Godwin Weston, 72, of Wagner died Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were were held Thursday, August 28 at the Greenwood Community Center followed by burial in the Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Czerney, 93, of Wagner was born January 22, 1932 on the river bottom south of Wagner, the son of Margaret Kranig. He died Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.

Funeral services for James William Sellers, 89, of Pickstown were held Friday, August 29 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. Military honors followed his funeral. Burial was Saturday, August 30, at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

In a heartfelt ceremony held on the evening of Tuesday, August 26th, the Wagner Labor Day Committee continued a cherished tradition with the annual tree dedication, honoring this year's Labor Day Parade Marshals, Don and Doris Hosek. Hoseks were recognized not only for their roles as 2025 parade marshals but also for their long-standing dedication and service to the Wagner community.
